Amy Wright

Those familiar with the film work of Amy Wright know her better as the actress that never seems to age. Actually, she's aged quite well, but in the late 1970's, the thirty-year-old actress was still playing teens. And maybe that's why she never got the glory that she deserves.

That's a real shame because Amy Wright is as good as they get. Theater audiences already know this as she has been featured in numerous Broadway productions, including many by the acclaimed playwright Lanford Wilson.

Some of her best film roles were in small movies like Wise Blood and Inside Moves, which is probably why the mainstream public isn't aware of her talents. That's a pity, as these films need to be seen - especially in this day and age of break-out indie performances. If those two movies were to come out today, critics would be predicting Oscar nominations for Amy Wright.

Her talents go way beyond those two films mentioned, though, as she shines in all of her work. With her plain, earthy look and memorable offbeat characters, Amy Wright is today's pick for Not Very Famous...But Should Be.

  3. I thought it was disgusting how she had an affair with the VERY married Rip Taylor for years, it broke his wife's heart and they had at least two kids out of wedlock.

    1. First of all get your facts straight, it was Rip Torn not the openly gay Rip Taylor. Secondly, Torn’s wife, actress Geraldine Page died two years earlier. I can’t say if Wright & Torn began a relationship prior to the wife’s passing but I tend to doubt it. Even if so then you must hate all of Hollywood, etc because having an affair isn’t exactly breaking news. I very much enjoy Amy Wright as an actress and hopefully she’s a good person but your comments besides being erroneous as to not even able to properly identify the right man but more importantly very much over the top condemning a woman without knowing the facts.

    1. That post was wrong. Amy Wright never had a relationship with the openly gay Rip Taylor. She did marry actor Rip Torn. Torn was married to actress Geraldine Oage but she sadly passed away two years prior. I don’t know if Wright & Torn started seeing each other prior to Page’s death but from what I’ve read I tend to doubt it. Regardless, I very much like Amy Wright as an actress, particularly as Ann in “Inside Moves”.

  7. I agree with you as I lived watching the film 🎥 recently on TCM, right after “Best Years of Our Lives” in fact. Great double feature. I did see “Inside Moves” way back in the day and I’d forgotten how much I did love it and my crush on Amy Wright (Ann) still lives! It was a wonderful and very poignant film that was great to watch. Glad you liked it too.
